The Hungarian Down Traceability System.
Developed by the Hungarian Poultry Product Council, HDTS emerged to answer a flood of counterfeit “Hungarian” down. Its objective is unambiguous: to certify that down is genuinely of 100% Hungarian origin.
The Council’s membership spans the country’s goose and duck hatcheries, farmers, breeders and slaughterhouses, and it audits every company in the supply chain. Certification is awarded only when records confirm the material came exclusively from association members.
HDTS is integrated with SafeDown, a strict biosecurity standard ensuring compliance with the European Union’s animal-welfare and hygiene rules from farm to finished product. We never use down from force-fed or live-plucked animals. Find out more at hdts.hu.

SafeDown™ is a health-safety certification for down and feather, aligned with the strictest rules in the world — the European Union's regulations on animal by-products. Where HDTS proves where the down comes from, SafeDown proves it is hygienically safe at every stage.
Every link in the Hungarian supply chain is overseen by government authorities and state veterinarians, and the whole chain is HACCP-controlled: breeders and mother birds, each egg at the hatcheries, goslings and ducklings on the raising farms, processing, and finally every single shipment — domestic or international.
